TONY NYS

Tony Nys studied in Brussels with Clemens Quatacker and Philippe Hirschhorn. A violinist and then violist, he distinguished himself early on as a chamber musician with the Quatuor Fétis, then as violist with the Quatuor Danel from 1998 to 2005, performing at major international venues and festivals. A curious and eclectic musician, he collaborates with ensembles such as Ictus, Ensemble Modern, Prometheus and Oxalys, and has shared the stage with artists such as Gérard
Caussé, Garth Knox, Frank Braley and Alina Ibragimova.
From 2007 to 2018, he held the position of principal viola with the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra and played with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez and Gustavo Dudamel.
He teaches viola and chamber music at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.
