KAREL STEYLAERTS
Karel Steylaerts studied the cello at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels with Carlo Schmitz and at the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Cologne with Maria Kliegel. Soon after that he won the Tenuto competition.
Since 2008 he has been Principal Cello with the Brussels Philharmonic .
He was a member of the Trondlin Pianoforte Trio with whom he performed at many national and international festivals. The many CD’s they have recorded have received worldwide acclaim in the press.
He teaches cello at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles.
